Svyatoslav Shyrochuk, also known as Sher, creates colourful landscapes characterised by heavy texture and rainbow-coloured strokes. Applying oils with a palette knife, he paints in a style reminiscent of Leonid Afremov.
Born in Dnipro, Ukraine, on 16 March 1958, Shyrochuk began attending the city’s art school at the age of eight. There, he worked with artists whose paintings were exhibited at the Dnipropetrovsk Art Museum, inspiring his ambition to have his own work displayed there.
Both parents influenced his creative development: his mother played the violin, while his father painted landscapes of their hometown. These influences, alongside the modern art he encountered at the museum, helped shape his approach to depicting Dnipro through the four seasons.
Some of his works have sold for several thousand pounds.
