A rare Gouttelette print by L. S. Lowry, numbered 12 of an edition of 35. It is signed in the lower left corner and bears the Chelsea Green edition stamp in the lower right. A certificate of authenticity signed by the master printer is included.
The painting was inspired by Lowry’s observations of people in Manchester after the Second World War. It predates his 1953 painting Going to the Match. Lowry often sketched scenes from everyday life and later developed them into paintings, using a distinctive palette of simple colours.
The print is supplied in a bespoke frame and is beautifully mounted. It is described as being in excellent condition.
