Born in Bari, Italy, in 1939, Pino began his training at the city’s Art Institute before attending Milan’s Academy of Brera in 1960. There, he developed his skill in painting the human figure, influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli.
Between 1960 and 1979, his work appeared in major exhibitions across Italy and Europe. He also received illustration commissions from Italian publishers Mondadori and Rizzoli. Despite this success, he sought greater artistic freedom and moved to the United States in 1979, sponsored by the Borghi Gallery.
His early years in America were challenging as he supported his family with limited English and few resources. A book cover commission from Zebra Books in February 1980 marked a turning point, leading to a successful career illustrating romance novels.
Pino spent 13 years creating book covers while continuing to pursue his interest in fine art. He painted until his death in 2010, and his work continues to be collected and admired internationally.
