Natalia Sinkovsky builds her paintings through thick applications of colour, using a palette knife before adding small graphic elements. Each work begins with an idea rather than a predefined sketch, allowing the composition to develop as she paints.
Her sailboat series reflects an interest in Expressionism, Baroque art and Cubism. Abstract art and modern design are also important influences, informed by her architectural training. Bright, cheerful colours convey her optimistic outlook on life.
Born in Kazakhstan in 1959, Sinkovsky completed a master’s degree in architecture alongside drawing and painting courses. She moved to Israel with her family in 1995, working initially in architecture and interior design before becoming a professional painter in 2002.
