Natalia Sinkovsky’s sailboat series draws on her appreciation of Expressionism, Baroque art and Cubism. Her bright, cheerful colours reflect an optimistic outlook, while her background in architecture informs her interest in abstract art and modern design.
Born in Kazakhstan in 1959, Sinkovsky completed a master’s degree in architecture alongside courses in drawing and painting. She moved to Israel with her family in 1995, initially working as an architect and interior designer before beginning her professional painting career in 2002.
Although this work is in oils, Sinkovsky primarily paints in acrylic. She begins with an idea rather than a predefined sketch, building thick layers of paint with a palette knife before introducing small graphic elements.
